Cheoy Lee Explorer Yacht ‘Doubleyou’, Formerly Owned by Jimmy Buffett, Goes to Auction
From the Caribbean to the crow’s nest, and into music history. The 27.5-metre Cheoy Lee explorer yacht Doubleyou, once the personal retreat of legendary American musician Jimmy Buffett, is now offered for auction. Represented by G3 Auctions and originally listed at $2.7 million, the bidding for this one-of-a-kind yacht will open at just $1.2 million. The 24-hour auction kicks off at 11:00am EST on 4th September 2025.
The Only One of Her Kind
Doubleyou holds the unique distinction of being the only Cheoy Lee 90 Expedition yacht ever crafted by famed American yacht designer Tom Fexas. Her classic explorer silhouette is defined by a navy-blue hull, bulbous bow, and a crisp cream superstructure that spans two levels, combining strength, style, and maritime charm.
This yacht is said to have inspired several of Buffett’s songs, some written while relaxing in the crow’s nest, a detail that adds an irreplaceable layer of character and value for any fan of the artist or explorer yachts in general.

Refitted with a Touch of the Hamptons
In 2020, Doubleyou underwent a major interior refit in Indonesia, with a focus on the saloon, skylounge, guest cabins, and bridge. Designed by Melody Savio, the updated styling brings an understated elegance reminiscent of a Hamptons beach house, featuring a light colour palette, white timber floors, and soft deckhead panels that perfectly balance the yacht’s traditional exterior.
Large windows, mirrored lounges, and a generous dining table define the main saloon, while the full-beam galley offers informal dining and generous prep space. The skylounge serves as a multifunctional retreat with bar seating, a sofa, and a desk, seamlessly opening to the aft deck.

Comfortably Off the Beaten Path
Doubleyou comfortably accommodates up to nine guests in four thoughtfully arranged cabins. The master and VIP suites are both full-beam and positioned aft for maximum privacy, with two additional twin cabins located amidships. A Pullman berth adds extra flexibility for guests or crew.
Outside, the foredeck doubles as a working space and toy garage, complete with wide walk-around decks and a hydraulic crane for launching tenders or exploration gear.

Effortless Cruising in Total Control
Beyond the yacht’s pedigree and design, her current owner reflects fondly on the pilothouse, calling it “my favourite part of the yacht… designed to be a social hub where I could personally pilot the boat with friends.” That ease of operation, rare for a yacht of this size, adds significant appeal for owners looking for semi-crewed or even owner-operated use.

Experts Opinion
This is a dream yacht for anyone seeking freedom at sea without compromising on comfort. And the Jimmy Buffett connection? It’s the cherry on top.
