AZIMUT MAGELLANO SERIES

The Magellano series is a line of motor yachts from Italian shipyard Azimut that features a pioneering nautical crossover concept. Designed for extended cruising and long-range exploration, the series first debuted with the Magellano 74 (discontinued) in 2009 at the Genoa Boat Show, establishing a new category that blends traditional displacement trawlers with modern motor yachts. The series of long-range cruisers boasts an exterior and interior design by British designer Ken Freivokh, with naval architecture by Bill Dixon. The original Magellano 74 set the guidelines for the series’ distinctive aesthetic that’s characterised by vertical bows, high bulwarks, and horizontal profile lines. Known for its dual mode hull, a semi-planing configuration with double chines that enables both fuel-efficient displacement cruising and higher planing speeds when required, it achieves up to 20 percent reduced consumption at medium speeds whilst maintaining ranges exceeding 1,100 nautical miles. With five models in the current lineup, including the Magellano 66 and Magellano 25M, spanning 18.47 to 30 metres, the Magellano series showcases expansive, light-filled interiors with 360-degree panoramic glazing and thoughtfully designed layouts optimised for extended stays aboard. Main deck configurations include open-plan salons with galleys positioned for social interaction, and full-beam owner’s suites offering exceptional comfort. Lower deck arrangements typically accommodate three to five guest cabins with ensuite facilities, whilst exterior spaces include generous flybridge entertaining areas with dining for eight guests, cockpit lounges with teak tables and integrated wet bars, plus foredeck sunbathing zones with convertible seating. Later models in the series introduced advanced environmental technologies, including Zero-Emission Hotel Mode powered by lithium batteries, BCool air sanitisation systems, and Humphree fin stabilisers. The flagship of the series, the Magellano 30M, features interiors by architect Vincenzo De Cotiis, with the newest Magellano 27M showcasing Finnish designer Jarkko Jämsén’s exterior styling alongside AMDL Circle and Michele De Lucchi’s architectural loggia-inspired interior concept.
