Situated along the Bay of Biscay in southern France, lies shipyard Chantier Naval Couach, also known as Couach Yachts. A well-established French shipyard with roots going back over 125 years, Couach Yachts specialises in the construction of semi-custom motor yachts and defence vessels. Best known for its composite yachts, Couach builds models ranging from 13 to 50 metres in length, with a focus on high performance and seaworthiness. Established in 1897 by Albert Couach in Arcachon Bay, France, the shipyard originally pioneered marine engine manufacturing. By the mid-20th century, Couach expanded into military and commercial shipbuilding, launching its first production model, Arcoa, in 1947. In 1962, under the leadership of Guy Couach, the shipyard shifted its focus to high-performance luxury yachts, becoming one of the first shipyards to adopt Kevlar composite technology in its yacht construction. Changing ownership over the years, the shipyard rebranded as Chantier Naval Couach in 2011, solidifying its position in the superyacht market with a commitment to combining military-grade technology with high-end craftsmanship. Couach Yachts are instantly recognisable thanks to the yachts’ robust construction, exceptional seaworthiness, and use of cutting-edge materials. The shipyard’s use of composite hulls ensures that their yachts are lighter, faster, and more resistant to shocks, making them ideal for both performance and comfort at sea. The current Couach yacht fleet includes the 2300 Fly, 2600 Fly, and 3700 Fly models, alongside the green power projects, the 4200 Lounge and the 5200 superyacht. To date, there are currently 35 Couach models in the global fleet.
