Dutch shipyard Icon Yachts, headquartered in Harlingen, specialises in the construction, conversion, and refit of full-custom motor and explorer yachts ranging from 40 to 84 metres in length. Best known for its robust expedition yachts, Icon Yachts was founded in 2005 by two investors, Ton van Dam and Alex Shnaider, who were later joined by additional business and industry veterans to offer purpose-driven yachts. Over the last twenty years, the shipyard has positioned itself as one of the leading builders and refitters of expedition and explorer yachts, cementing its reputation for innovative and quality yachts thanks to its technical excellence, modular construction approach, and deep-rooted commitment to sustainability.

In 2021, Icon Yachts became one of the first Dutch shipyards to be given the ISO 14001 certification next to its long-held ISO 9001 certification, further underlining the shipyard’s dedication to constructing yachts that meet the highest standards while minimising their impact on the environment. Icon Yachts reputation is built on three main principles: exploration, philanthropy, and sustainability. Not only does the yard design and deliver yachts for adventurous cruising, but it also supports scientific research and conservation by integrating onboard laboratories, dive centres and crew accommodation for research teams. Today, Icon Yachts operates from a fully equipped, climate-controlled facility with direct access to the North Sea, successfully delivering custom projects and refits under its independent ownership. Notable projects by Icon Yachts include the conversion of award-winning 68-metre superyacht Q (ex Ragnar), the delivery of new build 62 metre Party Girl with an exterior design by RWD and Project Mission, a 63.9-metre expedition superyacht concept capable of carrying six tenders and RIBs, a submersible for three passengers and an Airbus H130. Delivering five custom builds to date, Icon Yachts strives to be a force for positive change in the yachting industry.
