Pendennis Shipyard is a British custom yacht builder and refit specialist, with more than 35 years of expertise. Founded in 1988, Pendennis is particularly known for its custom sailing and motor yachts, measuring between 30 and 100 metres in length. Specialising in classic yacht restoration, new build, and refits, Pendennis currently employs more than 550 highly skilled tradespeople across its 14-acre waterfront facility.Established by entrepreneur Peter de Savary, he relocated a shipyard he had acquired to Falmouth Docks, England. Pendennis has rapidly made a name for itself over the years, thanks to its leading projects, such as its first project launched in 1991, the 125-foot ketch La Cattiva (ex. Taramber) and the restoration of the 228-foot schooner Adix, both of which received awards in 1991 from ShowBoats magazine. In 1993, Mike Carr and Henk Wiekens, together with David Bentley and Peter Wood, led a management buyout, steering the company towards international recognition.

Since then, the shipyard has invested over £22 million in state-of-the-art facilities, including three purpose-built construction halls and a 7,564-square-metre non-tidal wet basin with direct seaward access. Strategically expanding its presence, Pendennis established a refit office in Palma in 2011, a Technical Service Centre at Vilanova Grand Marina near Barcelona in 2019, and acquired Norfolk Interiors in 2021 for specialist joinery capabilities. Most recently, in September 2024, Pendennis took a majority interest in Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding, further expanding and strengthening its tender and small craft offering. Today, the shipyard’s portfolio includes more than 350 refit projects and over 30 custom builds, including multiple World Superyacht Award winners such as the 2011, 44.2 metres Hemisphere, the world’s largest sailing catamaran, and the 59m classic 1931 Marala, which was awarded the Best Rebuild in 2023 for her two-and-a-half-year restoration. Recent deliveries include Fox, a 34.9-metre explorer yacht launched in 2024.
