Pershing X Generation
PERSHING X GENERATION
The Pershing X Generation is a series of high-performance, open sports yachts from Italian shipyard Pershing, owned by the Ferretti Group. First debuted in 2016 with the 5X coupe, the series balances speed and performance with lightweight materials and a sleek design heavily influenced by racing cars. One of the most recognisable and technically accomplished series within the sports and performance yacht category, the X Generation is instantly definable by its aerodynamic profile, signature large side wings that shield the cockpit, and extensive glazing throughout.
The series today consists of five models: the 5X, 6X, 7X, 8X, and 9X, ranging from 16.5 to 28.09 metres in length. Each model in the series is constructed using advanced composite materials, carbon fibre, vinylester resin, and epoxy resin, a deliberate engineering choice that keeps displacement low and top speeds high.
Top speed and performance are the main design principles of the X Generation series. To achieve high speeds of up to 50 knots (depending on the model and configuration), Pershing relies on surface-drive propulsion systems paired with diesel engines. Some models, such as the 5X, have alternative propulsion options like a Volvo IPS POD drive. The 8X introduced full carbon fibre superstructure construction, allowing the beam to be widened without a meaningful weight addition, which led to a four-stateroom layout and a full-beam owner’s suite previously unheard of on a yacht of 25 metres and a top speed of 48 knots. Each model is semi-customisable, with a full range of options concerning interiors, and Poltrona Frau furnishings available as a premium option.
In addition, the main deck of each model in the X Generation series is designed to serve as an open-plan social and entertainment space, with the cockpit flowing into the main salon for a more relaxed, laid-back, and connected sense onboard.
