La Gioconda Description
Back in 1969, in the english seaside town of poole, a young man named robert braithwaite dreamt of building a new kind of performance boat. He was far from imagining that fifty years after his firm Sunseeker, would be known as one of the most famous brands of yachts worldwide with nearly 3000 workers and thousands of yachts built to date.

Throughout the history of the brand, one of the most famous and iconic Sunseeker models is without question the 108 Predator. As she was the same model type that was featured in the James Bond Movie Casino Royale.
Recently refitted in 2019, this yacht is all about the outdoor space. Her aft deck is immense, her foredeck and bow lounge unparalleled. And her narrow hull allows for higher speeds and agility.

Entering the saloon and dining area, you immediately notice the high ceilings. You don’t often find such high ceilings on a yacht this size. While you’re looking up, you will notice the Moonroof. New dimmable LED lights have been installed, as well as throughout the yacht. The main deck is very bright due to the signature Sunseeker windows that allow lots of light in. This whole area was refit. Lovely new L shaped blue couch brings colour to the room. New ceramic counters were installed, which are complimented by bronze accents. Underneath the counters you will find storage as well as a small fridge, giving you a wetbar. Some ‘James Bond’ features is the storage of the television and the coffee machine. With the touch of a button, the coffee machine, and or tv, emerge from the counters. This is great use of space because it gives you more counter space and helps to keep things looking neat. There is also a new dining table, very original pattern on it, that seats 6 people. The helm station also saw a complete refit, with new pilot seats being installed and completely new navigation equipment. New screens were installed, new systems installed, new autopilot system also installed. This area alone was over €30,000 in upgrades.
4 cabins and 4 ensuites below deck. New dimmable led lights have been installed throughout the rooms too. Full beam master cabin with king bed. Master cabin is very large, usually the size of master cabins on much bigger yachts. The leather on the walls was redone. It has a sophisticated and simplistic layout, with lots of storage space to keep the room clutter free. Something that will catch your eye is the extra large portholes – this was actually a costly installation when she was built, and so definitely a plus. There is a walk in closet, designated office seating area, and designated vanity area. The ensuite has 2 sinks with a spacious stand up shower. Forward there is the usual layout of two twin cabins and the VIP cabin in the bow. These may be on a less grand scale than the master, but they are still very comfortable; all come complete with en suite bathrooms. From the main deck aft, you go into the crew and main galley area. The appliances found here are comprised of a grill, ceramic cook-top, oven, a dishwasher, sink and industrial sized refrigerator. Aft of the galley is a small crew mess. Port side there are two crew cabins sleeping 4 crew members. Here you will also find the laundry station and your way into the engine room.
Cockpit is very large with some great features not usually found on yachts of this size. First, all the upholstery was redone. The corian tables were sent back to the manufacturer for sanding and treatment, and as you can see, they are in fabulous shape now. The best feature on the cockpit is the sunbathing/lounging area. This area can be hydraulically changed and extended by up to 1 meter extra! That is a great use of space when you have a few guests on board. There is also a canopy above the door to the saloon that covers the aft seating and dining area of the cockpit, if you’re looking to escape the sunshine for a little. The bow lounge is unparalleled. The space for walking around here is ample. Firstly you will notice the Jacuzzi in the centre. When not in use, you can cover it with a wooden top, transforming it into a table for serving appetizers and sundowners. There is a custom made bimini over the sunlounging seats, perfect for escaping the sun on a hot day. New teak was put down throughout the bow. New anchor equipment was also installed, reinstating La Gioconda’s RINA classification.
The engines which propel her are very impressive. three 16-cylinder mtu diesels have been fitted into the engine compartment. Together, these engines put out 6,000 horses of power. The 6,000 horses are coupled with Arneson Drives for high-performance. Access to the engine-room is through the cockpit deck hatch. Not surprisingly, it is a bit of a tight fit within the engine-room, after all, it is somewhat of a feat of engineering to pack 6,000 horsepower into a room of this size.
That said, everything is laid out well and you will appreciate the power.
