Sanlorenzo’s iconic Steel series marks the Italian shipyard’s bold entry into the world of large steel and aluminium superyachts. Part of Sanlorenzo’s superyacht division, the series was first unveiled in 2010 with the launch of the 46Steel, the shipyard’s debut displacement superyacht constructed using steel. Rapidly growing over the years, the current fleet includes five models, ranging from 50 metres to 73 metres in length, including the 50Steel, 52Steel, 57Steel, 64Steel, and 74Steel. With an exterior designed in collaboration with Zuccon International Project, the Steel series combines powerful naval architecture with sleek, contemporary lines. Interiors are created in partnership with iconic names like Studio Lissoni and are fully customisable, with flowing staircases and light-filled atriums. Each model in the series features a steel hull for strength and stability, paired with a lightweight aluminium superstructure for improved efficiency. The Sanlorenzo Steel series is known for its expansive internal volumes exceeding 1,000 GT across four- and five-deck layouts and is defined by its innovative general arrangements and onboard features. The 57Steel, for example, features a sweeping owner’s deck, complete with a forward owner’s suite and a private outdoor area with a swimming pool. Another key feature of the Sanlorenzo Steel series is the beach club, which opens on three sides at water level, while the transparent-bottomed pool on the main deck aft filters light below. Larger models in the Steel series boast drive-in tender garages that flood for easy deployment, maximising aft deck space. The Sanlorenzo 74Steel is able to accommodate up to 14 guests across seven ensuite, including the owner’s deck, a full-beam VIP suite forward on the main deck and five additional guest staterooms, with crew quarters for 22 on the lower deck. Powered by twin MTU 16V 4000 M53 diesel-electric engines, the Steel series has a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, with a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 11 knots.
